Employment Opportunity: Education Coordinator - AmeriCorps VISTA

NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania (NWNEPA) seeks an enthusiastic individual to provide a year of service, beginning August 30th, 2021 through AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America). NWNEPA is a nonprofit organization that revitalizes neighborhoods and creates opportunities for individuals and families to improve their lives through quality housing and financial guidance.

About the Position

Aspire to empower? NeighborWorks NEPA is looking for an eager candidate to expand our financial capabilities program using technology. You will help marginalized and underserved populations break the cycle of poverty through education. An ideal candidate will work with the Homeownership Center staff to review the current Financial Capabilities curriculum to enhance its success and implementation in a virtual environment. The VISTA member will evaluate technology to use in education series and then implement new methods to ensure successful transference of education and skills to participants.

Attend counseling services workshop and observe client counseling sessions

Evaluate remote counseling model that was implemented as a response to COVID 19

Launch a new self-guided Financial Education course

Develop a post-school student loan education and debt management program

Attend training opportunities to advance bother personal and professional knowledge and skills

This position requires a commitment to serve as a full-time employee of NWNEPA for a full year. A living allowance, education award, training, and other benefits are provided. Qualifications

Responsible, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple on-going projects

Strong interest in Community Based Services

Understanding of personal finances, business and educational planning, and/or technological tools

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office

Valid driver’s license and privately owned vehicle for service-related travel

Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
