Pathways to Homeownership

Kathi Tavera promoted to HomeOwnership Program Manager

Please join us in congratulating Kathi on her promotion to HomeOwnership Program Manager! Since joining NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania in 2020, Kathi has been a cornerstone of our HomeOwnership Center. She has played a critical role in helping first-time homebuyers achieve their dreams and supporting families through financial education, credit repair and foreclosure prevention.

Since joining the team, Kathi has administered the City of Scranton and Lackawanna County Homebuyer Assistance Programs. The success of these programs has made NeighborWorks a trusted and relied-upon organization with our community partners and stakeholders. Her work has directly contributed to our ability to expand services and launch new programs throughout the region that continue to grow today.

Kathi brought with her a wealth of experience from the banking and lending industry, where she developed a deep understanding of the mortgage process, personal finance and the barriers many face in achieving homeownership. This background has greatly enriched her approach to counseling, which she has used to guide countless first-time homebuyers through the path to homeownership.

Kathi has been instrumental in expanding our services to Hispanic communities, making sure all of our materials and resources are accessible in both English and Spanish. She regularly represents NeighborWorks at community events throughout the year. Whether it's group education, one-on-one counseling, navigating the homebuying process, attending closings or providing translation services—Kathi consistently delivers high-quality service to every client she works with.

In 2022, Kathi received her HUD Housing Counseling Certification from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This was a significant step in her professional development and speaks volumes about her commitment to helping families build stable, successful futures through homeownership.

As the HomeOwnership Center program has grown, so has Kathi’s role—both externally in the community and internally with staff. Her steady guidance, subject matter expertise and unwavering commitment to our mission have made her the perfect fit for this new role.

We are excited to see her continued impact in this new capacity. Congratulations, Kathi, and thank you for all you do!
