Senator Bob Casey announces funding for Aging in Place program

It was our pleasure to welcome U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) to our office! Senator Casey (who serves as the Chair of the Senate Aging Committee) announced a $1 million federal appropriation in support of our Aging in Place work in Lackawanna, Wayne, and Luzerne counties. This funding support will allow us to greatly increase the number of older adults served with critical safety modifications across all three counties.

The Aging in Place program has helped over 700 seniors remain in their homes with safety and with dignity, such as Jim Kuchwara and Mary Ann Bauman, who were both in attendance at the announcement. For Bauman, a handicap ramp was built in the back of her house and a comfort-height toilet installed in her bathroom. New banisters and new steps were added to the front porch of her West Scranton home, providing a place of comfort for her late husband in the last years of his life.

We are most thankful for the continued support of Senator Casey, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (who was unable to join us for the event) and our Aging in Place partners in delivering this life-changing work for older adults in our community.
